The God of cricket yet again proves that he is the real God

Posted by seshdotcom on November 8, 2009

It was a earsplitting blow by sachin which made the Australians remember the Sharjah tournament.Hyderabad as always is a lucky pitch for Sachin and he had one more feather to his cap now.It is same ground where he scored the unbeaten 186 and now another score of 175 which is one of the best Innings I have seen sachin play.He silenced the critics with his huge hitting and Bludgeoning of the Aussie Bowlers. For a moment it made the crowd and the spectators think that they are going to have Kangaroo Curry for the night in at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad but unfortunately THE MASTER got out,but this innings of sachin will be remembered forever. It was more of a “man of the crunch situation” knock and I am happy that he silenced many mouths which were telling sachin is not as good as he is when the team is in a need of chasing a big score.

Thanks Sachin for the entertainment I would rate this at the top  replacing the Sharjah Desert Storm innings

Collingwood the Windbreak,Monty and James does it for the Barmy Army

Posted by seshdotcom on July 12, 2009

Hi this is the review of the final day of the 1st Ashes 2009 test match that took place in Cardiff..This is a match in which I enjoyed every ball and was happy finally that England Managed for a draw. What a fighback by collingwood having spent 350 minutes in the crease and he held together the English Batting and finally there was a new Hero for England in No:10 and No:11 James Anderson and Monty Panesar.

The Beginning:

This was a match that proved the Englishmens’ resistance against the Mighty Australian Attack that was dominating the game from the Beginning having won the toss put up a Good total of 470 odd runs but that was not enough to face the strong and rejuventated Australian team.Ponting scored a valiant knock of 150 and registered his eighth century in The Ashes Tournament and put on a useful partnership with Marcus North who made his second test century  which made Australia go past England’s first innings total and -Thanks to katich for his composed knock of 122 which created a good foundation for this Gargantuan total.

The Cardiff Saga:

Coming to the Last day of the test match—Johnson started to fire his deliveries from the River Taff End and just when it seemed that England were doing good Johnson gatecrashed their party mood with a Straighter one which did not have any swing and cook was found Plumb in front and he has to walk away and Hilfenhaus bowled a Superb delivery to get rid of Bopara and the Australian Bowlers likes of Siddles and the Johnsons were too good for the Englishmen and they fell on thier trap and it was collingwood who resisted their attack and faced them with a Challenge and composure–He really is a Great find for the British but he couldn’t complete the Job when he casually tried to send the ball to Third man at a good height Mr.Cricket Pulled off a catch which Broke many British Hearts at that time and task spilled over and was assigned to Monty and Anderson who became the Heros of the Match

Excited Heros

The Nailbiter:

When Monty came into the crease he had a huge task assigned to him.Now due to the loss of collingwood James Anderson became the senior partner and he wished to take most of the strike and he played Peter siddle and Nathan Hauritz to a Perfection of a middle Order Batsman and the over which I cannot forget was Peter Siddle was Begging the Umpire to give a Leg Before that was a Unforggettable Scene—‘He was appealing and pleading for 10 seconds continuously with the Umpire eventhough he was saying no :)’and ponting tried his best by giving the ball to Marcus North and he could’t penetrate Monty/James defense and finally england’s resistance paid off and the Moment which many eyes were waiting in the English Dressing room happened “The Handshakes” and then it was finally declared the Match was drawn..I am sure that Pietersen/Strauss would have lost all their nails like what David Lloyd mentioned–I bet you there are no nails left in that finger there is only flesh 🙂

Unforgettable delivery:

The Unforgettable delivery was the one that Hauritz made to turn Sharp and Anderson didn’t judge it properly decided sweep and then changed his mind and one more delivery which made a sharp turn pitching Outside Off

Crispy Scorecard —

England 435 & 252/9 (105.0 ov)–Star *Monty/James

Australia 674/6d–Star * R.T.Ponting

India Snatches a thriller and goes 2-1 UP in the series

Posted by seshdotcom on July 4, 2009

Dhoni thumbs up

Dhoni thumbs up

Intially it was a very bad news for the cricket fans when the match was about to start at the scheduled time–It looked as if Rain gods played a Spoilsport on the dreams of fans but soon the conditions returned to normal. And it was all set for the toss and it was won by the India Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and they opted to field and the overs were reduced to 27 for each team.It was a successful formula for India chasing any Gargantuan total and they decided to field first and the West Indies Openers Chris Gayle and Runako Morton took the field.–Gayle destroyes Ishant Sharma for 12 runs in the first over which included some blistering cover drives and some unorthodox shots where he puled the ball few yards  outside the off stump to a Boundary in the Onside region..Afetr Gayle fell to Nehra’s Bowling it was Sarwan who served as a Mast to the West Indian ship he took them to 186 for 7 in 27 overs thanks to the Support by Ramdin who scored 14 off 6 deliveries..

The Last Over win for India:

Indian batting line up put up a fine performance with Dinesh Kartik timing the ball superbly and Gambhir supporting him and the Partnership for the first wicket was 84 runs which was almost half of the total and after that kartik departed to a Wonderful run out by Rampaul and Gambhir gave his wicket to benn and when Yuvi fell cheaply everybody thought West Indies can easily win the match but it was MSD who proved the talent he had with a composed Knock 46(34) which made India reach home safely

The Runners Up of 07 egress as winners of 09

Posted by seshdotcom on June 24, 2009

For the past two weeks or so all eyes were on T20 World cup that took place in England..It was a very entertaining form of cricket which makes people fix their chair in front of the Idiot Box.There were 12 teams that competed to get this coveted trophy and everyone showed their best and used their resources well..India who were the champions of ’07 couldn’t resist the Bowling attacks likes of Parnell,Steyn,Taylor,Fidel Edwards but it was a a good fight that was put up by Indians after losing their Clinical/Principal Opener sehwag  due to Injury —who can tear any bowling attack to pieces…So all the teams had a weakness either in their Bowling or in their Batting..Sri Lanka had a very Good Bowling but their batting let them down in the finals when Dilshan Miscued a Scoop off M.Aamir..But for Pakistan on the other hand it was a tried tested and successful formula they know that the wicket will help them with the Likes of Gul who can reverse swing and bowl toe crushers at the end of the innings and they had Players like Boom Boom Shahid Afridi to take the Srilankan Bowlers far and into the stands..So I would say that Pakistan played well throughout the Tournament and they won the World Cup..My pathoses to India and Sri Lanka who were quite capable of doing the same but this world cup just did not go well….

Who is going to be Coronated???

Posted by seshdotcom on May 29, 2009

We all know T20 World Cup is going to start in another one week..The Cricketing Gods have already resevred their seats in the heaven to see the Quilt being Destroyed all over the Ground and will come soft soon with the Gargantuan Hits..(India) won the First Edition of the T20 World Cup(Possibly the Youngest Tournament of the ICC which hasn’t lost its Demand eventhough experts say that it “Does not improve the Batsmans Game in anyway if you are in a spoling mood and if you get your willow well tuned you can hit out of the Park every now and then and has no Startegy like Test Cricket or Limited Overs Cricket”but according to me this is the real Battleground where the Patience and the thinking of Bowlers are tested…”You Should have a Big Heart when you Bowl in T20”—>Else do not pick up the Ball to bowl. The Budgeoner will have everything ready to swing it across for each and every delivery and we will go mad and enjoy each and every Moment when it goes high in the air.I believe I am Slightly deviating from the topic–Who is going to be Coronated? ok so now we will have a Quick Predicion of some of the teams now of that now

Australia:
The Autralians are the world champions in the 50 over game but they will not forget the pain that they had when Yuvi and Robin Uthappa tattered and Gatecrashed their Party,They have one of the finest Hitters of all time and Warner replacing the Great OZ Keeper Gilchrist in the Opening Slot will add to strength to their Artillery.Symonds has enormous power to take it out of the Ground even Yorkers may get Converted to Crowd Killers.Binga with his Fiery Bowling will surely disturb the timber and so as Mitchell Johnson
And I am sorry if anyone of the Players weren’t in the Squad–I haven’t Looked throught any teams/squads before writing this so just see people who are applicable and reject N/A
So considering all these I believe Oz has a 11% Chance to make the other teams sick/sweat
New Zealand:
The Kiwis are the real threat nobody knows or they will realize the abundant talent that these Guys Possess–India has not lost to any team except New Zealand in previous World Cup where there was a Huge Target set for the Indians.Brendon Mccullum as we all know is a Swashbuckler and can hit the ball a long long way and Jacob Oram with his Massive Height and Strength hits the ball with ease and they do have some Finest Hitters in the world like the Samoan Ross Taylor and I personally feel that their wekest department is the Bowling Department so we will give a 11% chance to Kiwis also
Pakistan:
The runners up and who made Dhoni bite his nails when Joginder Bowled the decisive over to the demolishing Misbah Ul Haq who was really really frustrated because he played such a fantastic Knock in the finals to take Pakistan from nowhere near the target to a loss by whisker. And they have some Great hitters like Afridi who can really turn the Heat ont he Bolwers Head with a Couple of Unexpected Big hits but again the place they lack is the Bowling Department so I would say pakistan has a 7% chance of winning this T20 World CUp

The Dyson Bloomer

Posted by seshdotcom on March 22, 2009

If you were seeing this Disaster and if you were a West Indian Fan you would have felt like Why not Hang Dyson :@?????? because that was a Blunder caused by Dyson and the West Indies dressing room is filled with darkness when they lost their first ODI against England on Friday.

The Pitch in Providence stadium Guyana is always a Subject of speculation so it was a good decision by Enlgand opting to bat first.Though the openers Ravi Bopara and Andrew Strauss failed to fire from their Guns Collingwood,Owais Shah steadied the English innings with 60 apiece. And then it began the W.I were looking Positive and even the Himalayan Target seems to be very less when Simmons and Sarwan were Charging, Simmons  came down the pitch and lofted Batty over the top and that alleviated the pressure  a bit.And there were some lustrous blows from the Bludgeoning arm of Pollard and that took the pressure out of Shivanarine Chnaderpaul who was playing a beauty at the other end.But the disaster period started when the Light started Fading and Stuart Broad trapped Dinesh Ramdin to satisfy D/L so as to make the English Side ahead with that Crucial Wicket during that time West Indies required 27 from 22 balls but when the seventh wicket went down a Wierd thing happened that Dyson called Off his not out Batsman to come to the dressing room and this was a Blunder by Dyson because he saw the wrong row in the scorecard column and thought that W.I is in the Favourable Position and if they walk now they will win,but on the other hand Strauss knows that English side is ahead when he took the wicket of Dinesh Ramdin and finally because of this Miscalculation England won by 1 run(D/L Method). When asked by the penmen after the match Dyson told

Dyson:

I went down the wrong column. It\’s my responsibility, that\’s it. I\’ve apologised to the team, that\’s all I can do. It was a bad mistake. But in one way I am proud of Dyson in one way because only very few people in this world  have fortitude to accept their mistake  and Dyson is one among them.I am sure this will be a Black day for W.I cricket but I believe this will also improve Dyson Coaching standards and thinking hereafter.

Captain Chris Gayle wasn\’t that happy but said \”Yes it is a Bad Mistake and here\’s no reason to point any finger. I\’m not going to kill him for that\”.

Alec Ste’wart’ the man of Steel

Posted by seshdotcom on March 9, 2009

Hey I just thought I could write about this Guy—>Supposed to be the best Wicket Keeper batsman that England has ever Produced.Alec James Stewart’s Blood is not new to Cricket the Cricket Gene was in his Blood when he was born–>(He is the son of Former English test Cricketer Micky Stewart.)Notable thing is both Father and Son were Good Opening batsmen. But that epic Gloves of the England Wicket keeping did not come to him immediately he was playing in the team just as an Opening Player since the exeprienced Jack Russel was keeping the Vigil over the Batsman behind the timber, but as years passed by Jack Russel decided to Pin up his Gloves (this happend around the year 1998) and that made Stewart as the unchallenged/unquestioned Wicket Keeper of the English Cricket team. But Stewart has also worn the wicket keeping gloves during some of the Matches where Russel was rested.(So it doesn’t mean that he first had his Glovework with the  Quilt only on 1998)

Composed Man

When did Stewart Unviel himself to the Globe:

Stewart had a very Good Start to his career and he impressed the selectors and they had good faith on him.But on 4th June the stage was set for Stewart to Perform and it happened against the Mighty Pakistani Attack which included the W’s and Waquar Stewart scored 190 in this test at Edbgaston but it resulted in a draw.(This was stewart’s Highest Individual score in tests).Alec Stewart from his very young age had Leadership Qualities and he was appointed as the Vice Captain of the English side when Graham Gooch was leading the side. After sometime(i.e after Artherton era) the Captaincy was Handed to Alec Stewart and he led the English side during the 1999 World Cup and due to his Captaincy records Alecs’ captaincy was rifled and it fell in the Hands of Nasser Hussain. He has a Unique record  he is the Only batsman to have his average<40.00 with 8000 or more runs scored in Tests.

I can still remember the breathtaking knock he played against the South Africans in Old Trafford and the SuperSonic innings he played against the West Indies during the England tour of West Indies in late 1994.(I think he scored some 140 odd runs I don’t exactly remember).

On the Whole stewart was considered as a Powerpack in the English Side in both ODI’s and Tests—>He really is a rare pearl in the Ocean called Cricket.

The Uproot’er’

Posted by seshdotcom on March 6, 2009

The History of cricket has seen many great bowlers Uprooting the Sticks but there were Only very few who will be in our Mind forever.I believe that Dale Steyn is one of them. His fiery Pace takes the Timber far away in the Ground to a Distance between Nadir and Zenith.

Ste'aming'yn

Ste'aming'yn

He has  Bowled some Unplayable deliveries which always stays in our memories.Steyn started his cricketing career with the domestic season with  Nashua Titans. He is also a handy batsman lower down the Order who set the SA Spectators with fire and enthusiasm when he comes to crease you can either expect a Big hit or a early dismissal he has a typical Style of batting. In the second match of the recently concluded tour in Australia Steyn had a 180 run Partnership with JP Duminy who scored a Double ton.Steyn scored 76(191).

He is currently a lethal weapon in test cricket with having the record of having second best strike rate behind George Lohmann.

Coming to his negatives he is a kind of aggressive bowler who very often have face to face conversation with Batsman which has resulted in some problems I can never forget the Spat he had with Gayle when Chris Gayle hit him his delivery to a Six.But we cannot forget the ODI series where he damaged the entire WI Line Up Uprooting many sticks(Devon Smith was the first victim)and it is hard to believe that one of them broke unable to withstand Dale’s igneous  Pace.

On the whole he is an everlasting Package that South Africa has Produced.

I would like to attach the Video for the readers to see those rippers.

Sandpit Drollery@ Antigua–The shortest match in history of test cricket

Posted by seshdotcom on February 14, 2009

The sandpit Farce

The sandpit Farce

Just ten deliveries were fired from the hands of Taylor and Fidel Edwards when the Umpires decided abondone the match due to the Sandpit Incident. The Groundsmen decided to have a  sand based Outfield which looked somewhat risky to the Bowlers it was a Skiddy place for the Bowlers when they were about to deliver the Ball from the Bowling Crease or say the mark they have to Fire in the deliveries. This all happened when Fidel Edwards failed to bowl his fifth delivery after trying very hard to deliver that ball(he tried 2 times)and then it was like he has gone very Frustrated and because of this Sandpit based Outfield and he he Just threw the ball to the Ground with Violent anger the Ultimate Problem was he couldn’t get any stability in his Delivery Stride and he missed it thrice and that made him wild.

This in turn made the Umpires and Captains(Chris Gayle and Andrew strauss)and the Umpires had no option other than to Abandon the match.I would liek to say one another Incident which happened in West indies it was a Kind of similar thing but it happened @ Sabina Park and that time it was Abandoned considering the Safety of batsman in an Very ruthless and pitiless and Uneven pitch and the Ball was going somewhere else if it Pitches in middle and Off it goes to somehwhere else and very much Unbelievable thigns were happening in that Pitch and you can say this Incident  is a Kind of repeat of the  Sabina Park Incident. And this made both the teams leave the ground in a desolated state.Englishmen and English fans felt that it wasn’t an Auspicious day for them and they did not start the tour well they had an Abject Loss to the Valourous Windies Sife who were now charged up to face what is called the Best English team in the History of the Cricket for these many years. This is also an Incident which has marked a Balack day in the History books of Windies Cricket this is second such Incident happening in that country. The English people doesn’t want to take any risk as they Knew what happened to Simon Jones(The toughest bowler that the Aussi couldn’t manage during the Ashes 05′)Simon broke his knee when he was fielding in such sort of Sand based Outfield during a slide to stop the ball.

The frustration in the Bowlers face was seen from the beginning Jerome Taylor failed to Bowl his first delivery because of the Sand based run up issue but it was actually Fidel Edwards who threwed the ball to keeper in Frustration when he realized that he cannot bowl considering his personal safety. And atlast considering all these things the Umpires and the Match refree decided to call it a day and that point Abandonment was the only Viable Outcome. There were Plans to move the match to Sir Aleen’s Stanford’s Ground but this has not been confirmed yet.

The Champion takes the field for the last time

Posted by seshdotcom on November 9, 2008

The Spirit is still there

The Spirit is still there

This is my second post about this Great Player—>Sourav Chandidas Ganguly. One of the Greatest Cricketer who has his name in BOLD+ITALICS in the History Books of Cricket. But I am very sad that he didn’t score in his second innings but I am happy that he scored 85 in his first innings to rescue India from the Lurches. It would have been a great thing if he would have scored a century because he started his International Career with a Bang against the England with a Century(Rahul Dravid also made his boffo debut in that match).Today 9.11.08 will be a Memorable day for Sourav as he tied his Pads for the last time in International Cricket his Flesh/Mind would have told him fight fight!!!! but he wasn’t able to do that but it doesn’t matter he is one of the Class Act that Indian Cricket has ever seen.Who can forget his Timely Knocks against Australia in the Brisbane Test Match/Dhaka Finals against Pakis.Sourav as a Bowler has also done some remarkable damage to the Opposition he has a Nickname Man with the Golden Arm/Prince of Calcutta—>Boycott’s Pet.Tomorrow the only thing that will be running inside the Brain cells of Saurav is the Memorable Knocks he made against the Pakistanis @ Dhaka and the Times where was Proved to be a Prized Wicket for the Opposition and Last but not the Least the Series Win against Australia @ Home especially the Test Match that was won in the front of the Home Crowd and that too after following On.

His Strength:

He is one Batsman who hits the Ball very Long,I Can never forget the Match where he took Andy Whittal outside the Ground three or four times in an Over which made Umpires get a new Ball.He Posses that Silky touch which many of them don’t have he is a Sweet timer of the Quilt which takes it past the Boundary ropes in the first 15 overs. And one of the other Biggies he Produced was against the Bowling of Arshad Khan and Aaquib javed in one of the Matches in Dhaka. And do not forget this–He is one among the Most destructive Opening duo that the World has ever seen(Sachin/Saurav) Duo which once had the Highest Opening Partnership record.

Saurav we miss you—>You are one among the Players who have made the Game of Cricket feel Proud of having people like you— Having a Classic Player..Your good form will last forever in IPL
