Varma Kalai–Is this a Branch of Martial arts

Posted by seshdotcom on February 22, 2009

Intro

Varma Kalai(வர்மக்கலை)in Tamil—>means hitting in Vital Spots  so as to make you inactive(motionless) for some days or even  for years together with just heart beat alone.Mainly this Martial arts system is Practiced by a Group called Sambavars during the early days when it came to existence and even by a sect called Nadars who had a reputation of being Great Warriors ine arly days. This Branch of stunt came into the world by the sage Agasthya according to Old Myths and Stories. The Master who teaches this Varma Kalai is called Asans..The first lesson will be how to defend yourself from a Vicious strike from the other person who does Varma Kalai well(Varnam in Tamil means Vital Spots in your body),and as the days pass there will be Practice made with practitioners  fighting with sticks, especially long-staff.The practice of varma Kalai involves no preliminary physical training, as does kalarippayattu. Rather, students are immediately initiated into vigorous sets of methods of attack and defense, which can be used directly for self-defense or with a variety of weapons. The basic steps and body movements learned for self-defense are the basis for manipulation of all weapons

Varma Kalai

Varma Kalai Techniques:

VARMA KALAI techniques include a variety of methods of attacking the vital spots with the hands, fingers, elbows, and similar natural weapons. Some masters even provide some  esoteric(Understandable only to an specific Group) explanations of the potentially deadly significance of each part of the hand

How they Describe the fingers:

“The thumb is the mother finger of the hand. The right index finger is the guru. The second [middle] finger is Saturn, god of death. The third finger is directly connected to the heart, and the fourth is for tantric practice. . . . When you want to kill an opponent use the second finger of death. If you only want to incapacitate or  Handicap your opponent use Saturn supported by the guru finger so that you only penetrate halfway”

Use of Varma Kalai in films:

There is  film in Tamil starring Kamal Hassan(Film Name:INDIAN)where he used Varma Kalai to dienable the opponents

Plants can now beat the heat

A new research says plants can beat the heat---

A new research says plants can beat the heat---

SCIENTISTS have now discovered the genetic puzzle that helps plants beat the heat it is really a  great development that could allow plant breeders to create new varieties of crops that flourish in warmer, drier climates—this was not there for the mankind previously lets see whether we use this technology to full effect. It  was told by one of the spokesman of the Scientist crew and was published in the ‘Proceedings of National Academy of sciences’,and the Main Line was —discovered the genetic puzzle that controls plant response to high temperature.American scientists at the michigan state university found that the gene bZIP28 helps regulate heat stress response in Arabidopsis thaliana—-it is a member of the mustard family used as a model plant for genetic studies.

The Scientists also unveiled a rare phenomenon exhibited by bZIP28 —>Robert Larkin lead author of the paper said that bZIP28 is also responding to the signals from the Endoplasmic Reticulum–(a eukaryote whose cell assembly is complex, the feature of ER is it forms a interconnected network of tubules  within the cells). So finally the reserach has come to a phase where people could create new varities of plants that can grow in particular seasons.I am sure that if some more work is put into thought we could save the universe and people of the universe in many ways.Like creating a hybrid variety that would give you food for 5 days in a month or say it doesn’t dried up quickly. This will help the mankind for sure as they can rely can rely on these for the rest of their life if something like creating a hybrid variety results in a success

Martial Arts-What exactly it is???

Posted by seshdotcom on October 2, 2008

As Zillions of pages were filled and torn and many liters of ink were poured to define Martial arts still there wasn’t a complete realization of what Martial arts exactly is.At this point I would like to write something about this I saw some two movies Yesterday and I got some flavor of what Martial arts is so here we go—-

The only thing I know about Martial arts some few days back is it is an Weaponless self defense

Kids in china Taking Martial arts Classes

Chinese Kids Taking their Martial Arts Classes

How did it get Ushered in :

I think Japanese where the commom practitioners of this Sport. The first word which people often talk in Japan when it comes to Martial arts is bujutsu which I searched in Wiki and found out the meaning bu- “warrior,” and jutsu- “technique” or “skill so altogether it is a Warrior with extraordinary skills.Martial arts is not only a skill of striking others but it is also involved with defending yourself from others vicious blows. The Martial arts not only became popular in Japan it spread throughout the World and became very popular in China. In early times, a number of terms were used to describe Chinese martial arts, which are now known as wushu. The word Wushu means to teach the military tips and tricks. When I searched for some more things on chinese Martial arts I saw that after 1949, traditional sports, including the martial arts, were placed under a government Physical Culture and Sports Commission. Martial arts for nationwide competition were standardized into three major categories of boxing (changquan, nanquan, and taijiquan)-Changquan means Long Boxing in chinese. So by end of 1960’s and 1970’s the Martial arts became very popular in China and Japan.
